Val d'Orcia food and wine tour

180 euros per person
every Wednesday
duration 9 hours

Departure at 9:30 am from the hotel. Leaving the city, you will head south on one of the most scenic roads in Tuscany, through the characteristic moonscapes of the Crete Senesi. You will have the opportunity to make short stops along the way to take beautiful photos and reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d'Orcia.
You will visit one of Tuscany's largest and most beautiful hill towns, Montepulciano. This town was first under the rule of medieval Siena and then became an ally of Renaissance Florence: here you can recognize the influences of both republics in its architecture and art. You will visit the main square, Piazza Grande, and explore one of the many ancient cellars dug into the ground beneath the town, sampling the Vino Nobile that is produced by the many families who live here.

The next stop will be in beautiful Pienza, where you will visit a local farm for a healthy and refreshing lunch based primarily on fresh ingredients produced on the farm. Here you will learn about the production processes of pecorino cheese, visit the farm animals and learn about the lifestyle of the area. Weather permitting, lunch will be served on a panoramic terrace, overlooking the valley below.
The tour will end in Montalcino, world famous for its wine: here you will taste the best local wines and specialties in an engaging tasting tour.
